A Perfectly Imperfect Floral Inspiration: Sweet Jasmine

Bridal Bouquet By Yasmin of Floral Theory; Photo by Shira Weinberger

One of my favorite designers and partners in the wedding industry is Yasmin Zialcita Ali, principal designer/owner of Floral Theory. As one of my "power vendors", we are in constant collaboration and she leaves in awe after every event (which is almost impossible considering my unhealthy level of perfectionism). The woman is truly genius at her craft and I find myself coming away with a wealth of knowledge after each wedding we execute together.

One of my favorite design principals that I've learned from her is, "beauty is perfectly imperfect", especially in floral design. She couldn't be more right.

I find it amazing that just a touch of something wispy and organic can really elevate an already stunning floral centerpiece or bridal bouquet into a state of perfection. I love the use of Jasmine in her work as it really adds another dimension by creating a soft, organic and understated elegance to the design.

Enjoy the following Jasmine inspiration images where it's executed beautifully in floral design.

A Floral Inspiration - David Austin Garden Roses

If I've designed your wedding, are one of my preferred floral vendors or are close with me, then you already know that my favorite flower is a David Austin Garden Rose. There is just something about their fragrance, hue, texture and simplicity that evokes a blissful feeling in me. Whether they appear in an amazing complex arrangement or as a stand alone blossom in a bud vase, they make statement. I love introducing this variety of rose to my brides as they fall in love them instantly every time.

Enjoy the following images of David Austin Garden Rose perfection (well, at least to me).

It's All About the Details - Bridal Shower Drinks & Accessories

It's spring time with only a few months left before your big day. What does that mean? It's means bridal showers galore! On average, most brides have at least two bridal showers which means lots of colorful dresses, lunching and presents.

As the star of the show, why not ask the shower host to really help step up the party style with some fun details? After all, wedding celebration style is all about the unique details that should reflect the taste of the bride.

Try a couple of my favorite spring time party details and recipes that are perfect for any bridal shower:

Floral ice cubes
Floral ice cubes are super simple and require nothing more than an ice tray, water, your favorite small blossoms and some imagination. They make a nice garnish for any cocktail and can really spruce up some soda water. Go crazy on different combination that match any color scheme. I love mint and raspberries, organic Pansies or Spray Roses, thinly sliced Lime or Lemon, and Lavender.

Directions:

1) Cut small, colourful flowers from your garden. Some types you might select are: pansies, violas, wallflowers, lobelia, and miniature roses. For larger flowers, simply use the petals instead of the whole flower. You can also use flowers from fresh herbs.

2) Fill an ice cube tray half full of water. Place the tray in the freezer until the water freezes.

3) Remove the tray from the freezer and place one flower or several petals in each of the individual ice cube cups. Top off with enough water to cover the blossoms.

4) Return the flower-filled ice cube trays to the freezer until the cubes are frozen. Remove the cubes from the trays and either store in the freezer in zip lock bags or use in beverages straight away.
